Is this too much/not enough food?

I did. I can do it until I’m out of the obesity range, then I have to add calories. I started it on my own, but people said I should talk to my primary Dr first. She ok’d it based on what’s in my food journal that I showed her. I’m eating very healthy. The only thing I had to add per her advice was fruit, so I’ve done that. I eat a serving of fruit every day now. I eat nuts, veggies, whole grains, beans etc every day.

the average male requires 2000 calorie diet to maintain weight if they are active, have no issues that could cause weight gain (medicine, thyroid, other condition). even if you are not active, that still seems extremely light for a female. The average intake for a 70 year old woman is around 1500, higher the younger you are. Up to around 1900 calories at around 17 years old, 1800 around 30 years old. I don’t know your age, or your situation, income level of factors that may affect your personal body image, however you did state that you have suffered eating disorders and I assume nothing about anyone. So, for me, I am 6’4, 195 pounds, and eat on average 2400 to 3000 calories a day depending on my scheduled activities. Eating lots of unhealthy food is worse that eating less of healthy food, however, both are detrimental to overall well being. the balance is to eat healthy foods at reasonable portions or, if your income doesn’t allow top notch groceries, to find affordable middle foods. If you have negative feelings about eating food, you can combat those while not starving yourself by a term called “grazing”, meaning eating a little bit when you feel hungry. Folks whose appetites are effected by meds use this method because they find it easier than making a meal and not being able to eat enough. It does not carry the guilt of eating a “big meal” with it as well. So, if you cant bear eating more than that because of body image or eating disorder, you can eat some granola thru out the day, snack on some grapes and you wont put on weight. If you snack on unhealthy foods loaded with bad fats and cholesterol, over time its not good. I am no nutritionist, but I am very healthy in body, I still have the same waist size I did in high school, have battled appetite issues, body image issues my whole life, I am just passing on what I have learned from my treatment team, experience, and lifestyle. So, you are on the light side there by about 700 calories if you happen to be 70. The voices are awful, I get that. mine used to tell me everything I was going to eat was either rancid or poisoned. Its hard kiddo, but you can do this. indigestion sucks, I get it if I drink soda and don’t eat or I wait too long to eat, I’m hungry but can`t seem to eat the food I make. Granola is amazing stuff to me, its good, inexpensive, can be made into lots of tasty treats, is delicious on yogurt and to top it off, it expands when eaten, so you feel fuller when eating lighter meals. it may even help soak up stomach acid, you might research that. No offense, I like you, haven’t met you, and want to help if I can, but your treatment team should offer you the services of a nutritionist, and it never hurts to ask and talk about how you feel. . And if you ever need anything, this site seems full of caring, honest, genuine people who understand some of the things you may be going thru. Its kind of like the Calvary ready to be called in when you need them most. Best of luck and remember, you matter, even if you don’t believe it.

It’s a little on the light side. But the diet itself is quite healthy I’d say. Just light.

When I don’t eat much I get indigestion/wind. Nurse said it’s from the empty stomach and liquid in it. So maybe that why you have it. Just throwing it out there.

Now I’ve started eating more again in the last couple of days the indigestion has eased again.
