The first forum I joined was called BDD Central (body dysmorphic disorder) when I was around 19 or 20. It was fairly active, like this one. One day it disappeared, which was kind of devastating. There were a lot of people getting and giving support there.
I haven’t found a lot of other forums that are very active. Some you make a post and wait days for a response. I’m on a forum for childless women, which requires a subscription, but other than that… this is it. Glad you guys are here.
Ive been active on various forums since 1995 but not mental health related. Only thought to look for schizophrenia forum in 2019 for some reason. Likely because i was suffering from strange denial or lack of insight. I liked this forum because its fairly laid back but you do have to tiptoe a little due to the rules.
Its possible I viewed results from this forum more than once over the years.
I was on another worldwide forum where people posted anything and it wasn’t a support or mental health forum. I wish I could remember the name of it so I could go back and check it out. I discovered it around the time I discovered this one. I’ve tried a couple of other forums for a couple of weeks but like people say, I didn’t get responses back for days, if ever. I got into long, drawn out conversations on the other one about AA and getting clean and I think I posted some mental health stuff. Damn, I wish I could remember the name of that forum.
No. I’ve been using forums since the 90’s. The first forums that I used consistently were likely the Tribes pc game forums. Tribes was an early MMO PC game. I was in my mid 20’s , I think.
I pay 15 a month for a discord channel as well. There’s a private facebook you get access too. Living well with schizophrenia. Managed by an SZA called Lauren. I keep a separate identity there tho, cos some things i share there - i wont do here, cos this forum is public.
