Personally, i see it more as current events, unless you begin taking sides.
If it is kept more on how it is affecting people instead of about sanctions and other political aspects, i think we can keep this open.
But, inevitably, someone will bring up something that is political.

My country was in the same situation as Ukraine 70 something years ago, and my grandmother is a Korean War survivor. She still doesn’t want to talk about the war.
She told me her story one time. It was like a movie!
I hope this never happens anywhere ever again.
(Also as I speak, my country is STILL technically at war.)

It scares me is that the Russians might use chemical weapons. They’ve always been much more oriented towards that than NATO.

I think it high time extraterrestrial show up,
and start a war, only then we will unite,
since we are alone in a single planet we fight.
Just imagine all of a sudden the earth is destroyed.

Well, it’s hard not taking sides, but I’ll try.
War is bad for both sides and most of all for peaceful civilians caught in the middle. I believe more democratic ways such as a referendum can help decide what people want. Although this has happened recently in Spain (the Catalan crisis) and it was a messy affair. Also, it’s hard for many regular people to avoid being misinformed, or timely informed - an example would be the Brexit: many people who voted in favor later changed their mind.

I just posted about this question myself yesterday. It’s a tough call and all depends on what is posted I think.
Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I have a Drs. appointment this morning, so hopefully another mod is available to watch after this thread.

In World War I different countries got into the war for different reasons, and a system of alliances drug all these different countries into the war. They also thought it would be a quick war, and it turned out to a long war full of misery for everyone.

I know many people who said this after 9/11 too. I don’t think that it’s the end of the world. Unfortunately, it could be the start of a larger conflict. I hope not. I think it’s important to keep it in perspective of other events in history. It could indeed be the start of something disastrous however.
