i know this is an old post but its still very interesting and i think more could be said here about this…
as i was saying about the circuit board type analogy pertaining to the brain, i can see how a genetic factor could be involved,
if the brain was already wired in such a way that made it more likely for thoughts to follow the wrong paths then i can see how we could be predisposed for sz.
the trigger is how our environment or how our brains take in all of our outside information and process it, if it is more likely for thoughts etc to wonder down bad paths in the brain where gates are maybe already open to letting signals through then thats the crux of the matter,
thoughts start filtering through the wrong gates in the brain sending signals to places they shouldn’t be going, maybe stress causing a reaction in the brain that opens these gates more or anxiety, tension etc
