Any drug? Anything that does anything to the d2 receptor that these drugs work on. Anything?
Only restricting calories and exercise will help honestly. My husbands former wife is on a weight loss drug and yet she’s still gaining weight because she’s not controlling her diet
When you think about these drugs make you fat and take 15 years off your life…not that much of a bargain to be on them.
I’m starting on an appetite suppressant called Phentermine today. Hopefully it works to help control my appetite that’s been off the hook lately. I plan on starting the Slimfast diet today to go with it. I’ll be posting about whether or not it works.
Some believe the numbers for those dying young are mostly due to suicide and drug use, and that APs may actually extend life because they control the symptoms
phentermine is incredible you will lose so much weight…my dumb ■■■■■■■■psychiatrist won’t give me phentermine. I’m convinced psychiatrist want to see you fat or else they would just give you phentermine.
Oh thank you. Will your regular Dr give it to you? That’s who is giving it to me.
I lost I am not kidding 15 pounds in one day on phentermine and my psychiatrist thought it was too much and took me off
Everyone on psych meds should be on phentermine. I strongly believe this. It is a beyond miracle weight loss drug
Looking at the side effects of the phentermine is pretty bad. Psychosis is a side effect along with delirium. At face value this sounds like an awful drug for someone with a psychotic disorder.
Im prescribed naltrexone. It helps manage the “reward center” of the brain that causes great feelings when using substances or feeding an addiction. Its no miracle drug by any means, but it helps take the edge off of late night cravings. Ask your doctor if it would be suitable for your situation.
Im not trying to be nosey and I only want to offer support, but did you get the okay from your pdoc to take phentermine? Please talk to them about it. Phentermine is some serious stuff, especially for people who are already prone to psychosis. I dont know nearly enough about the drug to claim a prevelance, but Im begging you to talk to your pdoc.
She got it prescribed by her Dr.
By a primary doctor, not psychiatrist. Im not going to get into a debate, I am just strongly recommending to talk to ones pdoc about this drug. Im not claiming to be an expert on it, but I am recommending it needs an experts opiniom.
EDIT: I just want to be clear, Im not saying anything about taking it or not, Im just recommending another opinion on it from a doctor who specializes in mental health and is up to date on the research.
If you suffer from mania at all, a psychiatrist will not prescribe phentermine. I only got it from my gp.
I heard this was banned in the UK if not id want to try it
Weight gain can only be countered by weight loss.
APs are notorious for causing weight gain. Obviously you shouldn’t stop taking them. So your only bet is to eat less calories and to do stuff that burns calories such as aerobic exercise.
Not sure that’s humanly possible. Even if you fast for a day and you exercise vigorously, you can’t lose more than say 3-4 pounds.
My pdoc and regular Dr work together and agree on my treatments. But I don’t know if she asked her about the Phentermine specifically or not. I’m assuming it’s not dangerous or she wouldn’t give it to me. I did take it once before with no ill effects and lost 6 pounds. I only took it for one month and didn’t follow through with continued treatment because I was too depressed to keep going to the Dr. over and over. It was too hard to leave the house. I think it’s going to be ok. But I do appreciate your concern.
It only works for a few weeks and then you’re back to appetite city. Contraindicated for those like me with bad tickers. It’s basically close to a prescription version of the ECA stack weighlifters use when they’re cutting.
A friend suggested Metformin, a drug for diabetes and a few other things. Took the idea to my doctor, who gave it the green light. Too early to say if it’s helping.
