Metformin did nothing for me but its good for preventing diabetes and that’s why my psychiatrist prescribed it.
That’s great your docs work in tandem. I hope it works for you, I really wasn’t trying to rain on anyone’s parade. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
I will and thanks again.
I’m going to ask about this for myself. I am considered obese and have exhausted every effort to lose weight. I’ve exercised, become vegan. No change on the scale. A while back this wasn’t an issue, but now I’ve gained too much.
I asked because I’m desperate and I’m trying but gaining instead because of my out of control appetite.
Same. I’ve even considered plastic surgery or gastric. I want to make sure I try everything before going to that extreme.
I would say any drug that requires to drink lots of water is good for weight loss, since eater makes you kinda sweat a lot.
I couldn’t try metformin. I have hypoglycemia.
Just scare yourself with all the diseases. That helped me. A disabling stroke for example. It all freaks me out so I stopped. And the depression I get from excessive weight is just so depressing. I just had enough of it all one day
Yes, those are no fun. Learned that in February.
Protein drinks are tasty and supposed to be Good for weight loss.
Only if you don’t use them to wash down a plate of fries and a chaser of Hostess Ding Dongs.
Weight loss alone is not enough. You can be skinny and in bad shape. Regular exercise is critical.
I didnt understand fully. Proteindrinks And excersise is a good combination?
Now if only I could find the damned motivation to exercise. And its so mind-numbingly dull and repetitive. My ADHD brain short circuits at the thought of it…
I hear you, but the alternative of being overweight and severely unhealthy is worse. I am willing to walk to avoid it. I try and cut the tedium by exploring different areas of town and photographing my walks.
And I hear you, but…do you know what boredom does to someone with ADHD? It’s like having thousands of ants crawling all over your body (and your brain!), and you can’t brush them off or even touch them. Ugh. I think akithisia is the closest parallel you might understand…
So what do you like to do that involves physical exertion?
Nothing. Seriously. Hard core video game/computer nerd and couch potato here. I’ve never liked any sports, though I did use to bike a lot - when I had no other form of transport. Now I couldn’t bike 50’ if I wanted to. Gotta love those APs.
I can’t stand any sport other than archery. It actually is the only sport so far as I’m concerned. Mainly because I can do it alone. Can you gamify your exercise? One of my friends got her son out walking by hooking him on that real world Pokemon thing.
Diet and exercise really is worth it. It’s hard though when you have these diseases.
