Is talk therapy useful for any psychotic disorders? Does it alleviate any symptoms?
I’m about to start cbt for psychosis. Not really sure what this is or if it even works. Will report back.
No it doesn’t, it can only teach you to cope with them and avoid triggers.
I love talking to people. I think its healthy.
It was for me, but im better thanks to myself I think…
I find talk therapy very helpful.
I like my therapist.
It gets me out of the house and I get to practice my social skills a bit.
Like most therapists, she is not very familiar in treating psychotic clients.
But she is so practical minded and so down to earth that I don’t mind.
I use talk therapy and I find it helps. I think it can be beneficial to almost anyone as long as the doc is good. It’s not going to cure you but it can teach coping skills that help.
I find it somewhat helpful but for schizophrenia, finding the best med is most important. With the best med, I never need talk therapy again.
It’s helpful in a healthy state of mind. If you’re going through psychosis it might be kind of hard, at least it was for me.
I’m in group therapy where we talk about how symptoms and share ways to cope.
I find ot really helpful to be able to talk about what I’m going through without feeling like the other person will think I’m nuts.
I also find it helpful to get the thoughts organised into words. I’ve done regular therapy too, and while it’s no cure, reflecting about coping strategies has helped me help myself, and better deal with things.
I find therapy useful as I click really well with my therapist. It took five different ones but I have a winner with her.
Yes it is. It can cure mild to moderate depression. It did in me.
