Is pain all over body a symptom of schizophrenia (kind of hallucination?)

I don’t know what this is. I have pain and muscle sourness all over my body. like it all aches and such. or like it’s all super tense. but not exactly tense.
It responds to medication. Like Perazine or other Antipsychotics. immediately. It feels like sour muscles or muscle spasms. in my back or generally all over my body bust mostly my torso. it’s horrible. I have it since I’m 16 and it predates the so called “undifferentiated schizophrenia” by years. I feel like a junky in withdrawal.
maybe it’s related to the “hyperreflexivity” they say I have? I mean they basically Diagnosed me based on the presence of Hyperreflexivity. not hallucinations or delusions or flipping out or anything. (if you don’t know what it is, it’s a very complex subject. read it up. it has nothing to do woth muscle reflexes or anything. it’s about reflecting too much upon stuff and bodily functions and senses. It’s not this simple though. read it up.)
Ok forget about hyperreflexivity.
Is this a common thing in schizophrenia? or do I have fibromyalgia or some other crap or just pain related to something completely different?
please note that these predate the antipsychotic treatment, these are not medication side effects like TD or EPS

Yes it can be a kind of hallucination. It could also be catatonia.

Pain is pain, I’m surprised you haven’t had a physical diagnosis for it. What have the doctors said about it?

I never experienced pain during catalonia.

I’ve felt like a force pulling my head away from the t.v. when stuff like sex would show.

I don’t know whether I have mentioned it to the docs. Maybe I haven’t. or maybe I have said tense instead of pain. and they have concluded that I have anxiety. I don’t know whether it’s pure pain or extreme discomfort of a sort to be honest. I can’t tell the difference. But now I’d say it’s pain. the thing is when I’m super distracted, like sitting in front of a doc, i don’t feel it anymore.

Yeah I can definitely relate to the feeling of powerful tension during catatonia.

I brought up the term “mild catatonia” a million times with doctors. they laughed at me and said such thing does not exist.
they said you either have full blown catatonia or you do not have it. I believe mild catatonia is the ONLY schizophrenic symptoms that fits me in some way. I have unusual beliefs but they do not interfere with my daily life or take massive control of me in any way.

Thats ■■■■■■■■. Sometimes doctors just don’t know what they’re talking about because they don’t have the disease. I have pretty severe catatonia but it only happens when I’m in an episode. When I’m not mild catatonia is entirely accurate meaning it only happens for a few minutes when I’m not in psychosis.

I rather believe that I have mild catatonia fo years. In which I’m rather fully responsive but still have symptoms of massive feeling of agitation and tension. is that something that is possible?

If you have trained yourself to be skilled on a musical instrument, the tension of performing and practicing can cause a lot of pain and exhaustion when the pain is suppressed for practical reasons.
Training myself not to fart also caused pain. I’m not good at that yet.

Just don’t fart during and you’re ok.

Tactile stuff like funky stiffness and pain, heart palpitations, spasms, ticks, leak urine, irritable bowel, even orgasms can happen.

If you need exercise or want to exercise, would just stretch regularly/yoga and keep up walking and stretch the shin splints out on the curb. Can do 2-3 (15) minute walks if things are bad & keep to level surface. Will probably pass…

Yes definitely. Look up agitated or excited catatonia. It seems to be the mild tension you’re describing. I alternate between excitement and stupor when I’m catatonic. Most doctors aren’t even aware excited catatonia is a thing.

The only Catatonia I have ever experienced was medically induced, they put me in a stupor with medications and all I could do was the things they told me to do, like walk or eat my soup, I couldn’t even eat solid foods because I would try to swallow without chewing unless they said ‘chew chew chew’ over and over…

As for pain all over the body, I have experienced this since I was 12, it has always been passed off as ‘growing pains’ and such. Recently my Pdoc suggested it might be a ‘physical hallucination’ which is apparently a rare form of Hallucination seen in SZ and other similar disorders. It is also found in people with epilepsy who suffer from ‘Absentia Seizures’. These seizures are more neurological than physical, causing the patient to become ‘non responsive’ and is characterized by a blank look and slight stiffness of the body. Most sufferers are completely unaware of the events and experience only a ’ loss of time’

I had this after months of daily panic attacks - my mind and body just couldn’t handle any more, my body became really weak and numb and was like an agitated pain all over my body… I’d say it was worse than the actual psychotic episode (which came later). Any kind of emotional trigger would make me fall asleep and have intense pain and irritation all over. I dont know if this is what you have but mine cleared up within a few months. When I regained my strength and the irritation and pain subsided, anxiety increased again - so I think the physical aspect of pain has to do with anxiety - when anxiety gets way too out of control, it can translate into more physical issues, and when physical issues subside, anxiety comes back more strongly, which is an opportunity to face it and allow it to get better on its own. Just my theory anyway… Hope you feel better soon regardless of what it is

I have all these same symptoms and have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. Pain/discomfort and muscle spasm or pain in muscle or loss of muscle control are very common for me. Also the hyperreflexivity I have causes me to over-aim in shooters online, where I react too aggressively and basically throw my mouse way too far in the direction I need to be aiming, not because I don’t know how to aim correctly but because my body doesn’t do what I tell it to.

Typically, we like to leave inactive threads alone and just start a new thread instead. This is different than how some forums are run, but we do it this way because it frequently upsets users to have old topics revived when they are no longer relevant. It can also be frustrating to the person who revived the thread when they don’t get a reply, because the original poster is no longer active or no longer finds the topic relevant. Feel free to start a new thread on this topic.
