I have found in my case medicine to be necessary. I don’t know about you. I suffered great damage to my mind and psyche going off my meds and have only done it twice, the last time 25 years ago. I won’t do it again. It is a poor treatment for the disease, I say this because of the terrible side effects, but it is the only treatment I know of. One day there will be a better treatment or cure and meds will be looked down upon. I don’t believe much money goes into research for schizophrenia, and it should for it is one of the very worst diseases. I don’t consider myself an authority, just someone who has suffered a lot from harmful side effects of anti psychotic medicine.

Yeah. If you find one that works for you it is better but it is definitely necessary. otherwise the psychosis continues and that can lead to an even worse outcome. A permanent psychosis.

There is this discontinuation paradox you should read about, it is about the longer you have been on the medicine, the harder it is to quit
So if your weight is normal BMI, I recommend staying on the medicine, if it’s too high, slowly taper off the medicine but I am not a doctor so do check with your doctor, it is also the same advice my doctor gave me
My previous psychiatrist said that this is true and that researchers are focusing on cancer mainly.
I think its logical as cancer is more deadly and serious than schizophrenia.
The problem is that these newer meds like the partial dopamine agonists aren’t potent enough for me.
They also make me crazier.
I think meds are necessary for schizophrenics.
You’d be surprised how much research there is. It comes as a big cost to society + they can make a lot of money of meds because 1 percent of the population will need them on daily. But for a complete cure there is less incentive. But I think it’s only going to come with some revolutionary advances in Biology in general…
meds are necessary for sz people yea… i think there is only a few cases that prob do ok without meds. If i’m not on my meds i start to obsess more and more and get more and more lost into this weird world. I call it the shadow world… my stuffy sheepy helps me keep grounded in the main world…

The side effects are horrible. This illness is pure hell too, yeap… In my country, the mi people are the last preoccupation of the government… I suffered as hell too.
At first, i endured the side effects of the meds for years without improvement… Well, i hope they’ll work better in the future… But i agree, sz is hell and we are often very lonely because of it…
