I would love for it to be illegal but I also don’t see that law being even remotely enforceable. It is so easy to have an anonymous source buying up the stocks and then a totally different source selling them.

It’s capitalism. So no.

I buy classic 70s amps and receivers on the local FB Marketplace. Then I clean and refurbish them (recapping, clean oxidation, upgrade lighting to LEDs, etc.) and sell for a much higher price on eBay. I feel no guilt.

People do something called arbitrage trading with stocks and securities.

You have say a bot buy a security on one exchange and then sell it to another exchange for a higher price. High volume of trading of this increases the profit

What if I bought the rights to your drugs and then changed the price to 10,000% higher? Then your insurance doesn’t want to fork out the money and your screwed.

Still ethical? It’s legal to do that but I’m not sure it’s ethical

I get what your saying.

Just the other day i bought something used on Poshmark app - kinda like an eBay. I received my item and it asked me to confirm i got my item in good condition. The app asked me if I want to repost what I just bought at a higher price I paid for. I was shocked.

Ethical vs Legal - its all capitalism

It comes under the concept of “profit”.

Without adding value to something and selling it for more can be an ethical issue, if ethics concern you, but most merchants reason that the service they provide connecting goods from manufacturers to people justifies the mark-up.

reminds me of that louis ck joke where he talks about what he would do if he had 85 billion dollars.
“I would just buy all the pants in the world, and just burn them. no more pants for anyone.” :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That’s just what I was going to say, as I used to work in retail sales.

During the middle of the shortage on nintendo switches I sold mine at the MSRP I could’ve asked for more but I didn’t. I got rid of it that night and I had money for hobbies I actually enjoyed. Felt so good. Like how many times do you regret a purchase but it becomes its own solution.

No, unless it’s a Series X or PS5. These people use bots to buy up restocks within seconds and then charge us 800-1000 for them, and if we buy from them we don’t get a warranty.
