hi,
i’m not too mentally stable, i had a small psychotic break two weeks ago, and I’m still recuperating, but i’ve already reached to a stage in which i don’t have psychotic-like symptoms (i’m on 12 mg of perphenazine).
a few days ago i started taking sarcosine, 2 grams for a few days. i felt nothing special but the day before yesterday i started to feel an authentic significant effect: clearer thinking and clearer critical thinking and preception of things.
one day after I decided to split my dosage to a morning-evening intake so i cut down to 1 gram. a few minutes after taking the 1 gram i had an emotional trigger that usually doesn’t make me panic and gives me psychotic-like symptoms. this was when i started to feel inner tensions, irritability, anxiety, agitation, panic and eventually some psychotic-like symptoms. i also had trouble to concentre and i kept forgetting things -
so today i cut down from 1 gram to 0.5 gram and i experienced the same side effects but to a lesser degree, which i can tolerate. the trouble is that i really don’t want to give up on sarcosine, but i’m afraid that it’s probably not healthy for my brain and might worsen my overall mental stability. i feel that sarcosine is very powerful and i’m trying to carefully direct it’s effect and avoid tensions and emotional triggers but maybe i should avoid it for now. any ideas would be very very welcomed.
The general rule of thumb is to discontinue a drug or supplement after undesirable side-effects appear. IF you intend to continue, please make sure you clear it with a doctor first. If nothing else, they need to know what you’ve been putting into your system in the event of a relapse. Helps with the treatment.
thanks mrsquirrel, i guess i’ll stop for a while, really upseting but mental stability is far more imortant, and relevent to my wish to over come some of my cognitive symptoms.
i understand the thumb rule, but is there any chance that i’ll develope tolerance and that the agitation, anexiety and psychotic like symptoms will pass after a few days? maybe i can add l-theanine to the mix, or will that be a band aid type of solution?
Don’t take supplements. Then you don’t have to worry about it. I don’t take any.
I’ve been taking sarcosine for a couple of years now. It really does provide a noticeable cognitive boost and it does so without any noticeable side-effects for me. I highly recommend it to most, but not to anyone who can’t tolerate it as there is a minority with that problem out there.
I just want to be my old self again. This disease is all about accepting and compromising and counting your blessings. I’m tierd of being a bad science project and sick and broken after 8 years since my first psychotic break. Thank you
The only thing that really worked for me was reabilitation, doing charity and participating in a guided group with other patients.
Any idea if someone with low tolerance to sarcosine can consume d-serine?
