My pharmacist said it will lose effectiveness quickly because you develop a tolerance to it, and she was right. If you use it occasionally you won’t develop a tolerance.
It didn’t work all that well for me anyways. Then after 3 nights it stopped working. Last time I tried it I took 175mg and didn’t sleep at all.
In the long term in can lead to dementia but in the short term it is safe.It gives some people restless leg syndrome.
A more effective sleep aid that is over the counter may be Doxylamine Succinate, called “Unisom sleep tabs” on Amazon. I found that better than benadryl and didn’t develop the same tolerance. it’s an antihistamine too.
I’m currently taking 1.5mg of clonazepam every night for sleep, plus 200mg of l-theanine and 5000mg of glycine.
My doctor was raving about a new sleep aid called Dayvigo, but it is expensive so I can’t afford it.
From all the reading I have done there is no long term recommended sleep aid, they all have draw backs and mess with your sleep architecture, but sometimes you have to take them anyways just to get some sleep.
