i mean like the people who dont have a mental illness but are fed so much odd and false information and conspiracy theories to the point they believe alot of things that would make you think they are delusional but in reality have no diagnosable condition
I know someone who thinks Putin has a clone. I find that pretty unusual
I think the difference is that it doesn’t affect their quality of life.
Yes, me. Put me in a situation and I’m delusional.
Absolutely. Happens to lots of normies that buy into conspiracy or cult stuff
Some people are easily influenced or naive which might be some sort of mental defect but im not sure and people have different personalities and styles and attributes. If your easily influenced or naive then yes of course you would be more likely to believe things that are not true. Believing things that are not true is being delusional although well some delusions are not as significant or dangerous as others. Everyone has false beliefs and i would imagine that most of those beliefs in the average person are either harmless or at least not dangerous and might even be helpful in a weird way. The type of information and environment maybe also how dangerous or malicious the source of information is also important. I dont see how having false beliefs equals a mental illness unless it is distressing or dangerous to oneself or others or causes significant harm or diminished capabilities though.
Schizophrenia is more of a combination of hallucinations and delusions and a reduced quality of life and other things for example. The reduced quality of life and a possibility for harm and other reasons are why it is considered a mental illness. Like i said though everyone has false beliefs but for most people they do not reduce the quality of life and shouldnt be considered a mental illness unless other threats or potential for harm or behavioral abnormalities are present. Were all a little weird and think differently.
