Is it okay to take Remeron & Zoloft at the same time?

My pdoc prescribed Zoloft to me for social anxiety disorder. I tried to stop Remeron yesterday and my insomnia was coming back. I wonder is it okay to take Remeron & Zoloft at the same time?

I don’t know, but remember that med’s can affect different people differently. Work with your pdoc, but you have to decide if any combination of drugs it getting to be too much for you.

With the things that website says I wouldn’t, but it’s your choice ky

I think so. I take Lexipro and Remirom at the same time and it takes away my depression.

that’s gonna amp your neural stuff up like insane. Remeron works on adrenaline pretty hard (jacks it up) and serotonin, and Zoloft jacks up serotonin after a matte of weeks on it.

you might get an “intoxication” of serotonin that is used by the mnemonic device “red, head, fed”

it means your skin might flush and you might get a fever, you will probably feel funny and confused, and your digestive system will act weird. Not a fun time. It is basically poison from serotonin. I am not supposed to even know that yet, so it’s basic but not that learned.

Not really safe, I would not do that myself.

TO be safe, don’t take both at once. Take the Zoloft as prescribed by your doc. If the doc told you to stop Remeron, then you need to do it and tough out a night of insomnia. In fact, I would call the doc and tell him/her about the insomnia, because some benadryl for three nights is a lot safer than two antidepressants at once, and there are stronger options for insomnia if you get too deep into insomnia (have it for like a week or so).

No, that’s not safe by the basic principles of those meds, and I doubt the doc meant to take both at once.

I would ask to make sure if this is because you can’t remember.

but keep in mind, if this is a taper, with low doses, it is not running as much of a risk. That COULD be what your doc meant to do.

It depends on the doses of the drugs.

Hey for a tip, in fact, what I do, is I write down the instructions given by any doctor, even if they are common sense, because forgetting and taking medicine incorrectly can be very dangerous. I mean I am pretty sharp if I may say so, but I still write down everything they tell me to do, no matter how “duh” or “no-brainer” it is.

Thank you @mortimermouse. I can’t call the doctor because i am seeing random doctor in the General Hospital. I will talk to the doctor on next appointment. At the meantime, i will only take Remeron.
