Is it normal to have to be weaned slowly off seroquel 800mg

im coming off Seroquel 800mg but my pdoc is weaning me off it very slowly…is this normal…

im frustrated as I want to start solian sooner as im desperate…

but my pdoc says he has to wean me off Seroquel slowly…isit possible to just stop Seroquel…or do I need to do it over 12 days…

I want to start solian now but he will not let me

12 days is nothing compared to Me I have to wean off over about 6 months on abilify

but im going crazy without solian…I want to start it now…I don’t want to wait 12 days as my voices are telling me to do dangerous and humiliating things

Try to hang in there karl. Coming off seroquel can be tough in itself.

It is usually necessary to wean off a drug before going on another. That is why many doctors prefer to do med changes in the hospital. If you feel you need to be in the hospital for these twelve days, please go. Your safety is a top priority.

From what I remember reading I think it’s important to wean off because if done cold turkey it can actually make voices worse n withdrawal symptoms can be bad. So ur pdoc def knows what he’s doing.

Oh, yes, definitely you must be weaned off of that.

Weaning is standard procedure for pretty much every psych med. Sometimes doctors titrate up the new med while weaning you off of the old one, but the weaning process is still necessary since withdrawal can be horrible.

800 mg is a lot of Seroquel. Good luck.
