Is it normal to be paranoid as a child

I know. The situation can be so galling. Try not to be emotional about it. Make the best of your treatment there. That will get you out the quickest. In the past they used to keep me in those places about three and four months at a time. They were trying to get me to be more social, but they finally gave up and let me be the withdrawn person that I am.

I’m not there now but I fear they will commit me

Make the best of it. If they think you’re happy in confinement they will let you out. If you get depressed they will keep you longer. Besides, depression sucks.

I was a fearful kid.
I suffered with severe panic disorder and lots of anxiety.
Yes I was frequently paranoid but like today my paranoia was tied into my anxiety.

But yes children can experience paranoia

Be thankful you don’t have really bad problems to complain about. Your life could be so much worse.

I know but it sucks being committed when you’re sane

I’ve never seen that happen here and I suspect your society is actually more progressive than mine is in this area. It’s impossible to get formally committed by error here. Really.

It happened to me multiple times.

I sincerely doubt that. I’m sorry you’re struggling with it, but it’s pretty unlikely that you’d be admitted to that type of psychiatric facility unless they felt there was an urgent need. There are never enough resources for psychiatric patients, so health care providers are very careful not to waste them.
