Is it me or them?

Hi, I don’t feel like I have a brain disorder. Rather, I feel like I can tap into other people’s consciousness and hear their opinion… I hear angry thoughts from my family who have left me now I’m nearly 40 to fend for myself. I’m currently on 150mg of Clozapine and am unwilling to increase the dose because it already sedates me very strongly… thus I am treatment resistant and haven’t a clue what to do… The voices I hear are true to reality and are based on the people concerned rather than thoughts related to aliens or secret agencies. I’m stuck…

Have you tried other medicine before clozapine? Or polypharmacy aka taking another AP such as Abilify alongside clozapine?

Hi Andrey, no because I thought you could only do that in the uk if you had exhausted every other option like a higher dose of Clozapine… I will check with my psychiatrist…

P.S. I have tried everything bar respiridone and thought clozapine was the end of the road…

A few people here didn’t have clozapine work for them. Some went on to find another antipsychotic that did. Or a combination of 2 antipsychotics.

I don’t live in uk so yes, talk to your pdoc and see what options you have.
Besides polypharmacy, there are other, albeit more extravagant solutions for persistent voices: rTMS, DBS… ask your doc about them!

Yeah tried pretty much every AP including clozapine. Polypharmacy has helped me much more than clozapine did. But that is just me.

Ps I am in the uk

I used to have that experience too.

Hi Moonwalker, that seems like a good idea… I will ask my psychiatrist… so long as it doesn’t raise my prolactin levels. Thanks!
