Or are there always a ton of people in the selfie thread that have never otherwise commented on anything? Seems strange to me.

Yeah it’s one of the unusual things about this site but I think there’s a lot of lurkers who don’t post so not totally unsurprising. I remember way back in the day It took me a long time to post. I guess it got worse from there

I was bashful at first because I was new. Then I figured, well I’ll just have to spend a year on the forum then to earn some cred. So that’s what I did!

I’ve noticed that too and wondered why someone would want to be less anonymous if they never post anything.
I didn’t lurk for very long, only about a week, and then I made an intro thread and jumped right in. I love this place. But I’ve only posted two selfies, in threads that are now dead. I don’t think I will do it again.

Recently I’ve been paranoid that people on here are people I know in real life and are just lurking to see what I say. I hate feeling like that

Yeah paranoia is a cruel master…I think it’s good in a way to put yourself out there in this community. I’m not adverse to doing it and It’s just one of those curious things. I really do wish more would engage in the community so we’d hear their stories rather than a pic!

When I first came to this forum (for the second time actually) which was November 2014, I was sooooo scared to post my selfie. I thought everyone thought I’d be the weirdest schizo ever. Like I’m not even human!!! Like I still have doubts about that but at least I can count on 19-27 likes on any given selfie picture I post ;). And no one saying I look like a shrek, either,

I’ve never put a selfie on here mainly cause I don’t want to be misgendered. But also anonymity is a lot better for my paranoia.
But some people like selfies! And I think it’s cool that people can participate like that!!
