Is it BPD or something else?

So here’s the thing, I’ve been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder before, about two to four years ago, and since then have cast it aside. Not receiving treatment for it until what I suspect is now. My psychiatrist put me on Lithium due to anger/suicidal ideation and outbursts of emotions (mostly anger). And I think he did this because he still thinks I have BPD. My therapist disagrees, but everyone around me sees it manifest in me. Everything from all or nothing thinking to fear of abandonment to emotional volatility, I have and have had since I was about 18. It didn’t really start showing up until then.

What do you do for those of us with BPD and schizophrenia together? Do you go to therapy? Or is there any medication that helps? I’m not sure, really.

I don’t want this diagnosis, but willing to get treatment if it’s accurate. Because if it’s not accurate, then perhaps it’s something else, or simple my own frailties.

DBT is sometimes used to help those with Borderline

You could always pick up some workbooks @John_Raven

I dont go to treatment for bpd because its too stigmatized and i am talked to like a manipulative ghoul. You can buy a self help DBT workbook which will basically be the same things a therapist will give you to use, even if you don’t have bpd it helps with those problems too.

Thank you, @Wave, for responding and for the suggestion. I think I will look at some DBT kindle books for my Kindle Paperwhite.

Yes, @Bkewlk, I am concerned about the stigma, too, because I’ve been known to be verbally manipulative and frankly would rather do it myself at the moment.

Fair bet psychiatry is invasive so doctors likely cluster b personality disorders as well. Trauma is a risk factor for bpd. Hospitals is pretty traumatic at best as is living a life unable actualise a healthy dosage of freedom. If you stop being impulsive and run a long instead of short life strategy then you won’t get labelled with bpd if you can maintain a good set of friends. Aim for low to medium intensity relationship and catch yourself before you get involved in the drama
