Is it better to tell?

No. I don’t tell other people about my mental illness. That’s not their Business. And there’s so much social stigma.

I usually don’t tell anyone besides close friends and family. Everyone else is on a need to know basis, mostly my doctors.

No not philosiphers I think people would treat it like any other illness and not associate it with serial killers and evil.

You see discrimination people face due to race or sexual orientation. Don’t think absence or different depiction in media would help people much.

A more positive and informative coverage on all those matters would help and look what a beutifull mind has done for sciz.

I don’t tell ignorant peoples about mu illness because they simply are ignorant. People whom I consider to be wise I tell that I have are beautifull mind and then they mostly understand my life situation.

I was being bit pessimistic. You’re right. There is a movie where a person suffers from dissociative personality disorder but they call it schizophrenia in movie. Idiots.

I’ve only told my boss, my parents and my sister’s family and they were all understanding. To be honest I don’t care who knows anymore, thus my picture on the selfies thread. I don’t tell people because the conversation never goes that way, not because I’m worried about the reaction.

I guess the diagosis title needs to be another verb that in a clearer way explaines the treats of our illness. Most people still imagine that Schizphrenia is a split mind. There is so much skizma connected to our sickness so it’s hard to tell anybody about it.
