Is it a bad idea to just go to a primary care doctor?

My psychiatrist wont write me several months on my ativan for akathisia. He wants to see me every month. I feel like i pay 25 a bucks to see the doctor for almost no reason. My primary problems are akathisia and lack of motivation.

Just count yourself lucky that they’re prepared to prescribe it long term at all if you feel you need it.

I need it for akathisia. I wouldnt say im lucky to be prescribed a medicine.

Cos my case is quite complicated my GP rarely gets involved with changing my meds. Tbh I think my consultant prefers it that way as well.

Some doctors are against prescribing benzos long term. If you ever changed your doctor the new doctor could stop prescribing it and you’d have to go cold turkey. Scary huh?

I would just go to another doctor that doctor would lose my business

You are lucky that your pdoc prescribes you Benzos.

Many pdocs do not like to prescribe addicting medications.

I would love to get my psych meds from my family doctor but I don’t think that he is fully prepared to prescribe them.

My pdoc used to give me refills on klonopin, when I needed to see him every month for other reasons…now he doesn’t give me refills on klonopin…to keep me coming back monthly…even though I’m doing great all around. So I know where you’re coming from

If I stop taking klonopin I start seeing aliens and robots and think I’m the chosen one again :alien: :robot: :man: …that is what I will say to any doctor attempting to cut me off ever

I dont get the recreational use of them. It just makes it so i dont have as bad of an akathisia attack. It just acts as a medicine for me

My roommate has panic disorder and gets all his meds prescribed once every six months. Thats how it should work

I don’t know what the heck you’re talking about,

I think I might, but I’m not sure.
A med for non awareness and lack of motivation?

I wish I had a med to make friends, well sometimes.
