Is hypnagogic a schizophrenic thing?

I spoke to my mental health nurse. And she says what I’m describing sounds like hypoagogic. And im was wondering I’f it was a schizophrenic thing? Or is it common?

I think anyone can experience it and its normal… not necessarily a schizophrenia type thing…

The literature said that having Hypnagogic and Hypnopompic Hallucinations is a normal occurrence (anyone can have them)

But if you get them frequently like I do then I bet you that it’s somehow associated with Psychosis.

They are not that common.

I get them sometimes, they were worse before I was diagnosed with sz and medicated

Is it when you wake up from deep sleep ?

Either falling asleep or just waking up.

No… I was wide awake and just about to go to bed and my schizophrenia was playing up and I started seeing silhouettes of a person.

It makes me feel very anxious… Think I’ll get a refill of my anxiety meds

I only began getting them when I started having psychosis, I never had them before in my entire life. It’s normal but also if you’ve never had them before and suddenly get them along with some psychotic symptoms, then it could be a Sz thing in that case.

I had the exact thing the other night, the only difference was this was when I woke up suddenly from a nightmare…I could see moving objects and people around the room in silhouette form, it would change every couple of seconds, first id see someone facing away from me turn round and get up, then it would change into 2D images of a face that was speaking, then it would change to something like a car moving or an animal in motion. But these images I know aren’t real and its not as if I think they are coming from the vicinity of my room, they disappear after a few minutes so that’s how I know its just Hypnagogic Hallucinations and not something more serious.
