Is everyone here schizo?

Most of my immediate family never bothered to find out what was wrong with me. When I was 30, after 7 years of hospital says and other stuff, I asked my dad what he thought was wrong with me. He couldn’t answer, so I informed him that I was schizophrenic. This from a man who made me get a full time job when I was suicidal and psychotic for over a year. So I understand how difficult things can be around friends and family at times. Maybe you will be fine not taking meds, I’ve known people who were on anti-psychotics for a year or two. Two of them, their psychosis was from doing speed. When they took their meds and got clean, they were weaned off the meds and were fine. If you’re doing well so far, there’s a chance you will be okay. Only time will tell. My only advice is to try to avoid alchohol and drugs, speed and cocaine in particular. And if you experience further symptoms, see a doctor before you end up in the hospital.

my family treat me bad, but not as bad as urz

I just got rediagnoised with schizoaffective disorder bipolar type and bipolar disorder which is weird but whatever they seemed pretty sure. I take meds and when the new pdoc sees me in the next few months I hope to be fully medicated then.

I had friends who didn’t like the way I acted on my meds. They said I wasn’t fun anymore. My response was to get new friends who cared about my health more than my entertainment value.

If you’ve been off antipsychotics for six months and are on here explaining your avatar title and just conversing calmly I don’t think you are schizophrenic.

I have schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type. I am definitely medicated and have no intentions of ever going off my meds. I came here for the community.

What reason would he have to lie about something like that though?

@Noise I don’t doubt he doesn’t think he’s schizophrenic. I am only telling him I don’t believe he has anything to worry about in my opinion.

I’m schizophrenic / schizoaffective.

I’ll never go off my meds.

I don’t understand how people can be sz and not take meds to be ok, but that’s just me

lol it sounds as if they liked to make fun of the local psychotic weirdo

I used to pull a lot of dangerous and amusing stunts because I didn’t care if I died. They enjoyed the shock value. When I started caring about my own health, I wasn’t fun anymore. Those weren’t real friends.

I think it is because some szs have only mild psychotic symptoms.

Same here, except I was a hub for drugs. I wasn’t a dealer, I was just in a situation where I wanted to share whatever I got.

EDIT: When I stopped doing drugs, and pretty much was at the bottom of the barrel for money, transportation, ect. the girl I was seeing stopped seeing me suddenly, said I was locked out of her Mom’s house, and started talking all kinds of ■■■■ behind my back until I confronted her about it and then she denied it until I kept pushing and she said “I am talking about you because you used to be really nice and now you’re just mean!”

“Schizo” is offensive. I prefer: “brain dead, but not giving up”.

I’m partial to clinical stupidity, but that’s probably not something that applies to other sz-types. Just something I call myself.

Between 2003 and 2007, I was clinically diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, bipolar, anxiety disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia, anorexia, and bulimia, and unfortunately have been suicidal. I have also been disabled and on workers disability since 2004 because of my mental illness. I have nearly died more than once, have over $200,000 debt in doctor bills, and have had more psych ward stays than I’d like to admit in that time period. I figured by my current age in 2018 I’d have everything figured out, but I am still jobless and on disability. I have my permit, but I never got my license. I have lived in the house I have been renting for 12 years, yet have only driven out of the driveway ONCE since I have lived here.
