Is baritone/bass out of fashion?

when you turn on the radio all you hear is tenor nowadays, like why? is the traditional johnny cash elvis sinatra type voice out of style? personally i think male voice types are more distinctive, female singers all sound the same to me. but maybe im ignorant.

ppl even talk like this, i have encountered plenty ofguys who talk in their upper register. are they doing it to impress someone? women, men who? i dont mean to attack anyone.

my question to you is, is the little boy voice in fashion? do you find it pleasing to hear that? moreover how does your voice sound? do you purposelly affect a feminine/masculine voice to impress people or fit in? how do you think the sound of your voice impacts people?

I prefer female vocalists overall.

I don’t find it really good for music. Everyone sounds the same. I miss when singers had a distinctive sound whether it be low or high.

i feel like male vocalists are imitating female vocalists

I’m a woman with a deep voice.

When I’m on the phone I know that I subconsciously make my voice higher so people don’t say things like “Thank you, SIr”.

It used to hurt my feelings, but now I feel comfortable with it.

I’ve always appreciated a good distinct voice regardless of pitch.

As far as music goes, I’ve noticed the same thing with new music,

Do what I do and just listen to some old Biggie albums if you miss that powerful baritone.

Yeah lots of time it seems this way.

i knew a girl in high school with a really husky resonant voice, it was very sexy imo.

i feel like it was the kardashian’s fault, they popularized that nasally valley girl hybrid accent everyone was talking with for a while.

What happened to Louis Armstrong’s or Frank Sinatra’s or Aretha, Tammi Tarell and Marvin. Its cause of computers honestly. Cause with software you can change people’s voices so much that when you have a hit song everyone else does the same thing to try and be a hit. Its all about money. Real music is dead and now its all based on charts and record sales. People don’t write music to express themselves they write music to sell product

The same is true for female vocalists. They all sound like little girls. None of them sound like grown women today. And all the male vocalists sound like whiney adolescent boys. That’s why I don’t listen to music with lyrics anymore.

Someone said I sound like Will Ferrel, but they were from the UK so what do they know.

I grew up in the 80’s. Punk, post-punk, new wave, all the new stuff that came out then. A lot of the singers at that time had really distinct voices, both low and high and in-between (John Rotten/Lydon, Mark E. Smith, Ian McCulloch, Ian Curtis, Robert Smith, David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, Thurston Moore, the guys from Gang of Four and Mission of Burma, Stan Ridgeway, etc) There was more of an emphasis on personality and originality than technical ability. Maybe part of it is auto-correct and really polished production, but it seems that now the emphasis is on a more homogenized overall ascetic and being impressive from a technical standpoint. Maybe I’m just uninformed and old. Don’t know.
