Is anyone here self employed?

I’m just wondering if anyone actually makes money while on benefits through arts or crafts or anything that includes self employment.

I’m in the process of launching a photography side-hustle, but this is while employed full-time.

photography is great, i love photography, its hard to choose between art and photography, minimalism is not my bag, id definitely choose photography over minimalism.

I cant believe you can do all of that, i can barely walk 4k steps on a good day, its very inspiring of you, atm i am thinking about doing an access course for art at college. I really surprised myself when i did some art recently, i never thought it could be profitable.

I am still thinking how to market my stuff. My doctors and chemist, friends always buy my writings. Just recently they turned against me as if I killed the family dog and raped my mother.

I’m starting as a self-employed Spinal Flow Practitioner on the first of March. I have already 3 client appointments booked. It’s the thing I’m currently focused on. I created a website, currently doing some Facebook ads, got certified and of course a long list of administrative things.

That’s really cool guys, i thought it would be extremely difficult to make a living as a self employed person,

If i can do original paintings then i could maybe do some prints and send them out (if they are good enough. prints would be cheaper than originals by a lot.

My dad and I had a side hustle cleaning cabins for about 5 years per diem. It was okay.

Now I want to get off my rear end and start an online men’s grooming products side hustle.

I’ve tried working as a freelancer in the IT sector. Competition is fierce. Hourly rates for beginners shockingly low. By beginner I don’t mean actual experience, just people without a track record of successful projects on the given platform where clients and service providers meet.

Yes, I trade stocks for a living, and I do it on my own.

I’m a social media manager and used to have 5 clients but let them go because of the stress of running my business got to me. I started over but now have one client who only pays $300 a month.

I’ve been self employed while doing this the last 5 to 10 years. It started off as a side hustle, but now I’m focusing more on it. I actually made enough to where I need to pay taxes for 2024.

I always liked physical media and I’m a borderline hoarder lol, so I had a solid amount of music, video games, books and movies. I went through my stash and found stuff that was out of print and went up in price so I’d sell it online for a profit.

I live in a decent sized city so there’s a lot of places I can find new invetory at. I’ll hit some thrift stores whenever I go get groceries and I’m always on the lookout for cheap stuff that I can move for a profit. Its difficult to do without a car though, unless your city has decent public transportation. Sometimes you can find stuff on craigslist and facebook marketplace too if you have them or something similar where you live. The easiest things to get started selling with are vintage T shrits and CDs, since they are easy to ship and don’t take up a ton of storage space. Vinyl is big right now, but it takes up space and you need to buy shipping supplies in bulk. Also there are some other startup costs and you need to research to know what to look for.

Art wise. I tried making music a couple years after I got sz too, but I ended up spending more time and money on gas driving to and from practice, renting the space, and playing gigs. We’d open for good bands but maybe 10% of the venues I played give the openers a cut. Recording and releasing an album on physical media costs a couple thousand dollars too.Now I just play as a hobby and jam with some friends every once in a while.

I was thinking of giving IT a shot. Do you have any certifications and what hourly wage were they offering?
