I happen to have a BEng in computer science and I currently hold a part-time job. In the past when I tried freelancing on one of the top online platforms, nobody would even look at me until I set my hourly rate below $20. Seasoned five-stars software developers were making at least twice that amount, but to get there you must start at the bottom and work your way up - it takes a couple of years.

Good to know. I wish I would’ve done a CS degree when I was in school. I was probably prodromal at the time, so I jumped majors a lot, took enough high level classes where I was able to get a BS General Studies degree in science. After working in a lab for 2 years I realized I didn’t like the work. I have too many job gaps now so I’ll probably be starting there no matter what I try next.
