Hello. Any schizophrenic Artists here?

Hi. I was thinking about doing art as a job (or one of jobs).

Are you an artist? How has it been working for you? Is it difficult? Does it perhaps help you sort out things through art?

Thanks

I use to consider myself as an artist, but then I think the illness took over…I just posted a poem and no one even looks at it. I don’t think I am well liked on the forum. I write too but it’s just as a hobby, I don’t know how to make money as an artist. What kind of artwork do you have to offer? I would think creating something like painting or crafts would be easiest, but I’m definitely not an expert. Like I said I am just a hobby oriented type person…I would say get on the internet, look for books, I don’t think your illness should limit you, But Good Luck, hope it works out.

Hey, I don’t think you are an artist only if somebody likes your art or if you are ‘professional.’ What is a professional anyway. I though of paintings and drawings at first, but poems are cool too.

Even a hobby art can be appreciated by different people. Probably not to make you famous or make it a single income, but that’s okay. But yeah, making money from paintings is probably easier than poems or writings. Writer needs a publisher.

Idk. I am just daydreaming. Like, I think about where I’ll move, what animals I will have and stuff. It’s nice

Professional photographer. I make so much at it that I have a day job to pay the bills. Art relaxes me, but I don’t get paid to do the kind i like. Most of the money is in doing weddings or portraits, which I dislike. I love doing landscape work, but it doesn’t pay much, if at all.

I always said that an artist is who I am, not what I am. I would like to be more professional and have my art be more of a central focus, and have it be more financially profitable, although I wouldn’t wish that if I just had money and didn’t have to work. It can be difficult to make a living in any kind of art career, but making it a priority as a way to express yourself is always possible. I think everyone can benefit from self-expression. I hope you delve into it wholeheartedly and that it brings you a lot of joy.

Art is not always about making money or a living, Art can be due to the Passion inside of yourself…A lot of Painters and Artists have only been recognized after their death and were barely noticed while alive.

Thanks, very nice and very true! I think we are all artists inside… If we wanted, we could bring it outside (and benefit from it). Earning or not, I will try to do as much art as possible :3

I do art to help clear my head. Something about putting stuff on paper puts my head in the right place. I would never do art as a living though it’s to much pressure to be creative, but thats just me.

My brother makes a living painting though and he seems to be well off. My favorite quote from him is still, “i used to get in trouble for drawing and doodling in class. Now i get payed for it.”
