Im just wondering as im on this drug and im not sure if im going to be on long term or not
I’ve been on olazazapine for about 2.5 years. I tried switching to Latuda but that gave me anxiety.
I’ve been on it for well over a decade. Probably more closer to 20 years. It’s been good to me. It isn’t too powerful but it keeps my racing thoughts in check and works well . I"ve tried risperdal and abilify but zyprexa works well for me. I gained most of my weight on risperdal but it’s something to watch.
I’m on Olanzapine long term. It seems to have minimal side effects. I don’t even have weight gain, so I can’t complain. Good luck with it.
I’m on Olanzapine. It significantly decreases my paranoia and delusions. On the negative side, I gained a lot of weight on it. Im in the middle of losing weight right now. Ive lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks.
I have been on and of olanzapine for over 10 years, and with few side effects.
I really like your name @anon15119022 - it made me think and wonder?
I was told by an old case manager that in most of the u.s its now illegal to be put on olanzapine long term. Due to the physical health problems that can come of it over a long time. That true at all?
Just wondering becuase i was on it for years from 16 onwards and it wasnt really good for me it seems.
It would be the same here in Oz if it was true. I’ve never heard that and it would make the news.
Years ago I was struggling on risperdal. I had read all the horror stories about zyprexa…this was like early 2000’s. Still. I went over to it hesitantly. It has been a good drug for me and many others.
My mother who is 77 years old has been on Zyprexa (Olanzapine) for 3 years and it works like magic on her. She’s got some side effects from it but I personally thank the makers Ellie Lilly for this wonderful product. Wonderful because that it saved my mothers life.
I was on 20 mg I was on my best on it it is a wonderful drug it kept me sane they did the mistake of lowering it and I became psychotic and reduced it even more.
I am on it since 10 years… Yeah, many are afraid of this med, but its the only one, who doesnt give me many horrible side effects… Its a strong med though, but one pdoc even told me, that its probably one of the most effective aps out there…
I’ll be in life danger if they stop it lol, i take it long term too and dont wanna switch. Am still sick though, but id be worse without that… Some other aps just made me crazier tbh, thats all…
But yes, its a weighting med too unfortunately, ive put 30 kilos on it, but managed to lose 14 in an year with just eating everything, but in less quantities…
Good luck!
The only newer antipsychotic that workes as well for me as Zyprexa(Olanzapine) is seroquel(qutiapine).
Same here im on this drug
i was on it for years then switched to invega now im back on olanzapine and i dont think that will change any time soon
I’m on Olanzapine. It helps me.
