Many people have told me Seroquel does not antagonize dopamine at this dose, so how is it possible that it working for me.

Im not sure. Im on 150mg as well as aripiprazole depot and im struggling with voices. Everyone is different.

People absorb and metabolize medications differently.

Even If I metabolize medication quickly the company claims it does not antagonize dopamine at that dosage so I don’t know.
I think 600 mg is a more typical dose. But people vary. I take 100 for sleep.

People survive off meds for extended periods. I was off meds for 2 years. If you’re on 100mg seroquel as an antipsychotic, then you’re basically off meds.

I don’t know anything about Seroquel dosages, but I agree with everhopeful that lowered doses of meds can catch up with you after awhile. I know from experience.

I don’t know about the recommended dosages but I can say 5mg abilify took me out of psychosis and two years later went on 10mg (not because of psychosis though) I stayed on this dose for 8 years. No psychosis. So what I’m saying is. Everyone is different.

It can be enough for some. I have come across other forums where people claimed even 50mg seroquel were enough to keep them mental healthy. This is ofcourse exceptions though, but it appears to be possible for a minority.
To compare I was psychosis free on 5mg zyprexa for many years. 5mg zyprexa is equivalent to 75mg seroquel. But zyprexa has a much longer half life, so it’s probably more likely to work well enough on smaller doses.

It could be that the help with sleep is helping your psychosis over all, I know for me that’s a huge help. I’m only on 200 mg of seroquel Xr, technically not a psychosis level dose, and I still get some stmptoms but it’s enough that I’m mostly ok

It really depends on the person. If it works for you, then don’t second guess yourself. Everyone is different and have different metabolisms.

I think 50 mg of Seroquel is more of a sleeping aid.
I was taking 25 mg of clozapine for sleep. It also helped with psychosis because I was sleeping deeper and more. Sleep is important.

I totally disagree with most of you who recoment to upper the dose because I’ve seen Schizophrenics manege their illness at as low dose as 2 mgs Clopixol once dayli. That’s about half mg of Haldol.

There’s no magic formula. It depends on the person. My meds have always been fairly low in dosage compared to some other people I know. I would trust your psychiatrist with the actual dosage amount.
