My income protection insurance has finally come to an end but I’m thankful I have a few random things I do to make a bit of money. So far I do the following:
Doggy daycare and dog sitting
Selling my cakes and cookies
Random freelance admin on Upwork
Market research interviews
Resume writing
1 day a week working for my aunt writing website content
1 day a week gardening/mowing lawns
All these little things add up and if I’m having a bad week I have the flexibility to do a bit less. I’m amazed how far I’ve come after thinking I could do nothing. I still have significant cognitive issues, but I feel like I’m pretty busy most days.
Has any one got any suggestions for other random things I could do? Looking to expand my repertoire!
That is amazing you have so many things on your plate, yet so much flexibility!
Maybe you can combine your penchant for cooking with your dog sitting and make some dog treats on the side . People pay beaucoup bucks for artisanal dog treats!
Yeah I definitely need to work on that more. I’m certainly bringing in much less money than I did when I had a fancy job. I still spend too much on self care things like $100 haircuts and $70 on my eyebrows! Seems like a waste.
Here are some inventive ways to make money on the side:
Start a blog or podcast. If you have a passion for a particular topic, you can start a blog or podcast to share your knowledge and expertise with others. You can then monetize your blog or podcast through advertising, affiliate marketing, or selling your own products or services.
Freelance. If you have skills in writing, editing, design, or other areas, you can freelance for clients online. There are many websites that connect freelancers with clients, such as Upwork, Fiverr, and Freelancer.com.
Take online surveys. There are many websites that will pay you to take online surveys. While the pay is usually not very high, it’s a quick and easy way to make some extra money in your spare time.
Sell your unwanted items. If you have clothes, furniture, or other items that you no longer need, you can sell them online or at a garage sale. You can also use apps like Poshmark and Depop to sell your items to a wider audience.
Drive for a ride-sharing service. If you have a car, you can sign up to drive for a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft. This is a great way to make money in your spare time, especially if you live in a busy city.
Tutor students. If you’re good at a particular subject, you can tutor students in your community. You can find students to tutor through online platforms like Chegg and TutorMe, or you can post flyers in your local area.
Walk dogs. If you love animals, you can walk dogs for people in your neighborhood. This is a great way to get some exercise and make some extra money at the same time.
Babysit. If you’re good with kids, you can babysit for families in your community. You can find babysitting jobs through online platforms like Care.com and Sittercity, or you can ask your friends and family if they know of any families who need a babysitter.
These are just a few of the many inventive ways to make money on the side. With a little creativity and effort, you can find a way to make extra money that fits your skills and interests.
