How have your experiences been on invega?
I am on the injection and it’s been okay so far. Just insomnia and weight gain and sexual dysfunction. Oh and lumps where they inject it. I was on pills before but I was non compliant with them. So I am stuck on the injection.
I already have insomnia and sexual inability. How much weight have you gained on it? I have a sedentary lifestyle so I blow up like a balloon.
I have gained about 20 lbs since I have been on it for 2 years. So I gain about 10lbs a year. Lately I have been gaining 2 lbs a montn no matter what or how much I eat. But Its partly my fault because I am on disability, lazy and don’t exercise.
What med are you on right now? I am currently 205 pounds 5’5 and Am scared to keep gaining like this. I am thinking about getting a gym membership. But Its my over eating I have to try to conqure first.
I’m on haldol. Majority of people do not gain weight on it. It’s strong so that’s why I loved it. However I have severe Parkinson’s symptoms on it and they are painful so I’ll have to switch to a newer drug. I have a gym membership but I also have a yoga studio at home I like better than leaving my house. I get so paranoid leaving my house due to people being everywhere and I feel like they’re reading my thoughts.
I’m 5’4” and 112. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot but I have gained weight rapidly in the past on medications. I have a sedentary lifestyle so I don’t like to be on anything that causes too much weight gain. I feel like I’m a healthy weight now and it took forever to get there. Seroquel blew me up.
Omg that would be heaven for me to be that weight! Please try to do all that you can to stay that weight! I get paranoid when I leave my house too. I mostly fear getting into an accident and dying or being paralyzed or getting attacked by someone. Did you lose weight while you were on antipsychotics or did you have to stop them completely to lose weight.
I made the mistake of stopping them completely and lost weight that way. With schizophrenia you can’t stop your medication. With me, when I was on risperdal I got extreme hunger. I’d akways ignore it and only ate when I needed to. I was careful with food. It actually got better in a few weeks and the hunger went away. I walk every day too. I know it’s not always that simple but I do know a big part of weight gain is the hunger you get. I’m sure you can anyways.
