Invega vs latuda for paranoia? (Rexulti)

Is invega better than Rexulti for paranoia? Does invega cause weight gain?

Or is latuda better than invega and rexulti for paranoia? Does latuda cause weight gain?

I don’t feel Rexulti handles my paranoia well enough and I see my dr today and I plan to ask for a change. (I also take olanzapine)

I need something better to pair with my olanzapine.

Or perhaps risperidone is best?

Or maybe I should ask to swap it for abilify again?

You have many options. I would prefer Latuda over Invega. Abilify over Latuda.

Invega is better for symptons. Rexulti is better for side effects

I did do better on Invega. I put them into a med interaction checker and it says heart problems can occur when Invega is taken with Zyprexa though (that QT long heart issue). I will still ask my dr about it.

I could ask about risperidone too I guess but the last time I tried it I got higher appetite. I am scared of that. @broken

What about vraylar

I can ask about latuda too. It knocks me out after taking it so I’d have to take it at bedtime with a yogurt. Can I take it with less than 350 calories I wonder? Or without food?

I tried Vraylar and was so ill with voices and anxiety. I nearly ended up back the hospital. It was a scary month or two. I was housebound. It was bad.

I’m having some problems with abilify and I was considering vraylar as a sub… your experiences are not good! Makes me reconsider

Oh I hope I don’t scare you off of it! You never know. It might work out for you. Some people on here take it just fine. :slightly_smiling_face: @FreeLunch

If all else fails a low dose of clozapine may help. I take clozapine and olanzapine together. It helps.

How long have you been on Vraylar?

Agreed , clozapine at the time was the silver bullet for me

According to studies Risperidone is strongest and only stronger AP is Clozapine. It causes much less weight gain than Olanzapine and Clozapine. I am on 6mg Risperidone and no positive symptoms at all.

If you do good on Abilify you will likely do good on Vraylar as they have about the same potency. But why are you switching? Both are partial agonists, same mechanism of action, no difference, Vraylar is a bit weaker according to studies

Edit: I just remembered you had problems on Abilify. Rexulti is the younger brother of Abilify, its said to be a new improved version of Abilify.
