Injection Vs Pill

I’m just wanting an anecdotal account from you guys on what has worked better, either an injection or a pill? Can someone please make a poll for me, I forgot how to, lol.

The problem i had with injections is that the week or so before, it would wear off. And I’d get some symptoms. Its like a rollar coaster for me.

Okay. I build a poll. But before I answer: what do you mean with “better”?

My mind is a bit complicated. And thinks of several ways in which one is better than the other.

  • More effective: injection
  • More stable effect: injection
  • Less chance of me quitting after two days: injection
  • Less chance of me getting terrified about doctors and running off to Italy hiding: pills
  • More creepy side effects and less chance to stop when that happens: injection
  • More flexibility in dosing, to adjust to female monthly fluctuations: pills
  • Easier to withdraw from: pills

And probably several more.

I totally agree with Marian and I have nothing to add.

@anon21280033, I suppose I was looking for the most effective and higher efficiency. So, thank you.

Thanks. Now I voted injection. Nobody dares to give it to me anymore though. If I say I run off to Italy to go into hiding, I’m quite literal. So not sure about practical effectivity. :grimacing:

IDK, just the obvious fact that with a monthly injection you don’t have to worry about remembering to take a pill every night at the right time.

Also, you have to go once a month to a clinic to get your injection but you don’t have to worry about filling a prescription and making that extra trip to a pharmacy each month.

I feel like taking pills gives me more agency…but I think that’s cuz a while back I was court-ordered to take the injections and I had to earn the right to go on oral meds again.

I have never been on the pills form of Invega. That is not an option in our health system. I like the injection because it is convenient but I wonder if one month I could get a bad injection.

I take 3 APs. Two orally and one injection.
I wish i could have them all in injection form

I was on 3 antipsychotics for 13 years and that hasn’t hurt my longevity.
I cannot recommend anybody to go off one of 3 antipsychotics because that’s so hard.
it took me 8 months to quit 160 mgs Geodon cold turkey. I was on that for almost 20 years.
I will undoubtedly not be able to ever get down to my LAI only ever so I must always take pills aswell.

I preferred a shot because I am bad at remembering pills. Also the medicine is a steady release.

If you are Severe psychotic injections can help more than pills imo.

I prefer pills because it gives me more control but if you have a history of not taking meds or being resistant to the idea when you get delusional then I’d consider the injection

I like taking.both pills and injections. Allthough I’ve been on the long acting injection for the last 26 years there wasn’t a day where I didn’t take pills.

I don’t know what works better for me, but I take pills. I’ve never been offered an injection. I don’t like the idea of an injection anyway.

Edit: I didn’t vote since I haven’t tried the injection.
