Okay so I have been on injectable forms of medication (Invega Sustana) but since two med changes ago I am now on Abilify. I haven’t had any major side effects (like I have a harder time controlling my body temperature that has led some situations) but I have this fear going on injectable Abilify.
Just want to get other people’s opinions on injectables.
I’m pretty sure the rule of thumb is injectables have less side effects. They are hard to adjust to first, but if you are already taking the oral abilify, you probably will adjust easier. I like it because I skip doses sometimes, so injections make the medicine at the same level at all times, and my symptoms are better handled. I don’t get completely below baseline to the point I can’t come back
@anon35453467 I don’t where I will start with the dosage (at this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if it was high) but the dosage so far isn’t scaring me. I guess it is the fact that I can’t just not have it in my system during the 4 weeks time frame.
@Sheryl I didn’t know it would have had fewer side effects. One of my fears is that I will have more since everything is a full blast in my system
@Winterblues Yeah skipping dosages are why my CNP is saying highly, that I should get on injectables again. I trying to stay on them more regularly now but it a daily battle AM and PM dosage.
I get the Abilify injection every 3 weeks now. Side effects include a bit of dink shrink, and the inability to watch TV, movies or read long text…in essence, a shorter attention span.
@PatrickT I wouldn’t like that. I love to read and have already noticed that I gotta change more times from reading material to reading material since starting Abilify. Books are my life.

@Winterblues That’s why I am hesitant cause although I was on injectables it did not cover all over my symptoms and I was still on pills. I worry that my parents will know of injectable abilify and then make me go on it since I am not so good with the pill thing.
@DragonStorm@Blossom@Air Shot seems to be doing well. Been on it since the 26 of March 2019 and I don’t think I have many side effects/complications then again I never had much issue with the pill so that is good. I was worried about my eyes (and still am) since antipsychotics trigger the eye movement so far it has not been happening.
I was in the hospital shortly after the injection due to very bad voices coupled with a mixed state/high quality so other meds have been messed around (pill of Abilify) with and taken away (Zyprexa). Before that, I was in sleep deprivation and other issues that altered how I can say Abilify affected me as of so far. Yeah, I’m not the best with med compliance.
