I'm very unsettled tonight

I’m unhappy because I know I’m going to die and don’t know when. It’s like sitting around waiting for death to happen. Somehow, it doesn’t work that way. Should I dream of heaven or stay focused on life?

I would do both if you can. I was thinking of being with my dog snowball again today when I pass away.

I feel like this every day.

Yup, me too ---- stay well, busy, and appreciative of the little things

Nothing wrong with doing a bit of both like @Dude1 said.

Sorry you feel this way. I imagine it’ll happen to me too and by that time, I won’t know who to turn to. Someone said enjoy the little things, I hope that there’s plenty of bits here and there which melt your heart and you cherish.

God bless you @PinCushion you’ll be around for a long time I’m sure of it  don’t worry too much. I’m sure you know a lot more than I could ever tell ya… Follow your heart I guess :slightly_smiling_face:

yes, dream of Heaven…it’s waiting for you @PinCushion

Dream, think and do whatever your heart wants.

Hope you are surrounded by good company and care.

It’s nice seeing you on the forum.

I get this problem too. I’m 40 and when I was a kid I just figured, ah, I’ll never die, I’m gonna live forever.

Now I’m like… hmmm… gettin’ up there… better quit smoking (did that a couple years back)… better lose weight (working on it)…

Who knows what wonderful thing I’ll give up next! I’m currently eating… a salad! That’s how important life is to me.

If you’re like me none of the “love the life you have” nonsense is gonna help. The best thing to do is just not dwell on it, but at the same time, don’t ignore it. Make absolutely sure you go to the primary care physician once a year minimum to get blood work and tests to check for things like heart disease and cancer. Medicare allows for one annual wellness check covered in the USA.

However, if you were terminal, and you had a year or two, and asked me the same question, I’d tell you… without breaking any forum rules… nobody living knows what happens when you die. It could be anything. It could even be good.

I hate not being able to answer that question on this forum but, even though my answers are all secular I feel like I’m bending the rules.

Also, I dream of my dead cat all the time and she always cheers me up. A few times were very vivid too.

This thread reminded me of a meme that was popular around 2020, maybe earlier.

Woman: Help! We need a doctor here!
Man: I’m a doctor!
Woman: This person is going to die!
Man: I’m a doctor in philosophy, though.
Woman: No time for jokes, he really is gonna die!
Man: But has he ever truly lived?

I’m much more concerned about losing a family member, a close friend…
My own death will happen when it will happen. I’m more afraid of loneliness than anything, to be honest.

It’s understandable to feel that way.

I think looking forward to Heaven while living and enjoying each day as it comes as best as you can is the best way to go.
