This one says no.
The study found that for each half an egg consumed per day, people had a 6 per cent higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease…over 17.5 years
People with raised cholesterol often wonder if it’s OK to eat eggs, as egg yolk is rich in cholesterol. Generally speaking, as part of a healthy, balanced diet, it should be fine for most people, as the cholesterol in eggs does not have a significant effect on blood cholesterol**.**
It’s much more important to limit the amount of saturated fat you eat. Too much saturated fat can raise the cholesterol in your blood. So, most people can eat eggs as long as they are eaten as part of an overall healthy, balanced diet that is low in saturated fat.
If you have familial hypercholesterolaemia, you should limit your dietary cholesterol to 300mg a day, but it is probably better to aim for nearer 200 mg on average.
Eating an egg a day as a part of a healthy diet for healthy individuals is a reasonable thing to do.
This reminds me of the Bob Mortimer tale in ‘Would I lie to you?’ show on BBC1.
This had me crying with laughter at the time… ![]()
I’ve always had extremely low cholesterol. One time the nurse giving me my blood results asked if I was on cholesterol lowering drugs as it was so low.
However, I got into a really bad habit of eating 2 fried eggs and 2 fried sausages for breakfast for about a year.
My blood tests showed my cholesterol sky rocketed as a result.
I’ve had to quit my funky breakfast as a result.
So eggs were certainly in the vicinity of the crime for me.
i get into the habit of eating the same thing everyday, so things like eggs will hazardous
best thing ive found is peanut butter and whole grains
I don’t eat eggs everyday but I enjoy some here and there.
i eat eggs daily. i have elevated cholesterol.
my doc said, i need to excercise.
i like 3 boiled eggs salt and pepper or 3 egg omlette
It’s not what you are eating but generally how you eat it. I recommend eating egg whites. Those are very good for you. But in terms of cholesterol, eating them fried with sausages or mixed with butter and cream scrambled will hit your cholesterol in a big way.
6% really isnt much. it means that if u have a 2% chance over the next 17.5 years then ur risk would become 2.12%. and u have to consider risk of other products you might have instead.
the way u figure out the percentage increase is taking the stardard risk plus 6% of that percentage. it wouldnt be 2%+6%=8%. its 2% plus 6% of that 2%.
It’s fine and healthy… Not gonna make or break ya haha as long as it’s not too many every day but one or two won’t kill you. I saw a video about a guy who ate 12 eggs a day. He got high cholesterol but 1 or two im sure you’ll be fine.
I found these tasty eggs at my local store. The yolk is a deep orange. And I think that’s a good sign.
Oh wow that’s amazing. Sound healthy and delicious ![]()

I heard on a podcast many years ago that the best diet one could have is vegan + 1 egg a day. I don’t know how true it is.
Probably best if it’s in moderation. Too much of anything can’t be good. Listen to your body.
I eat 2 - 6 eggs a day. My cholesterol is on the button.
My husband’s cholesterol is perfect — he eats 5 eggs at once about 4x per week!!!
i eat about a dozen eggs in a week one a month or so
Eggs are so good for me. I really love them. Especially organic ones. Very large size eggs. You can get that here.
