Because I think we realize that a lot of our anxiety is not based on the rational. It is distracting, though, enough to keep our minds from the greater pain of a real problem. I just found a real pain that answered me about “No wonder I thought I couldn’t do anything. This was a very real and very buried injury.”

Today in the Chinese restaurant I went to dinner with my sister at, whoever was at the table behind me started clinking their fork or spoon against their bowl or plate. I thought they were doing it to make me mad. It was sooo irritating. I told my sister and she couldn’t believe I thought they were doing it on purpose. She admitted that it was irritating to her too but she said don’t take it personally.
I shake a little when I’m feeding myself and I do a lot of involuntary silverware clinking. Hope you can empathize.
