I'm setting off in 3 hours for my journey to Sri Lanka. Spending 26 days in the lovely sun

I got a train to catch to my nearest city where I’m catching the coach to London Heathrow, Then my flight to Colombo. I’m staying on the south coast on a budget this time, eating mainly in local restaurants and eateries, after my accommodation expenses I have £50 a day spending money which is more than enough considering a Sri Lankan curry is only around £4 and they are good portions.

I want this holiday to be an experience that I can actually do Sri Lanka on a budget because I’m going back in June backpacking and living off £25 a day for everything. I seen another British person on their YouTube videos do it and was successful so I really want to do it.

I will post some pictures.

Have a good time, enjoy the localities.

I very recently watched a finance/political YouTube guy who was at Sri Lanka. He recommended it as a new place of residence for people who want to move out of the west.

Supposedly it is cheap on cost of living (In USD), and has the features of the desirable tropics, (apparently) things are starting to look up for Sri Lanka, as compared to their recent destructive history.

I would love to do this. When my children are grown I may travel again. For now I’m staying put. I do go away sometimes once or twice a year. After a week though I’m ready to come home. I love my home.

The food is fantastic and it’s plentiful… 400 rupees is $1.20 or (UK)£1.00. This is a typical menu in Sri Lanka.

Maybe one day.

I already feel like eating the rice and vegetable curry with the coconut that is on the menu.

I had prawn curry yesterday. And the prawns was straight out the sea. It was delicious. And cost £5. The whole meal including drinks was £11.

A month long over seas vacation? That is very impressive. I’m envious. May I ask what you do for a living? I thought I had a desirable career and now feel short-changed.
