I just went to do my nighttime insulin shot. I set the unit amount, jabbed myself in my fatty part of my abdomen/stomach area and pressed the button with my thumb.
Then I went to pull it out and I saw that the needle was bent sideways. I thought I felt a bit of it on my skin and I thought I could smell it.
So now I’m not sure if I did my injection or shot it all over the floor or something. Its risky to take a second shot and have my blood sugar go too low, so I guess I just dont take it and hope it doesnt go too high.
Also not a bad idea . my clinic has one doc on call on off hours , I think. Not sure what they could tell me to do though. might suggest er as a precaution
Basaglar (insulin glargine) is a long-acting insulin that can take 1–2 hours to start working after injection and continues to work for about 24 hours. It’s used to help manage blood sugar levels in children and adults with diabetes.
Google result.
I switched to this one from Levimir a few months back because they discontinued it. So am not super aware of all the details like onset time.
Is it safer to administer a second dose or miss a dose.
I know my spouse in on autoimmune shots and when this happens it is very stressful. It’s a weekly shot so he usually chooses to take the chance of not administering a second shot and wait til the next week
Hopefully you’re ok. Maybe check your levels at the 2 hr mark since that’s how long it could take to start working? Or 3 hours after to be extra careful?
