Wrongly applied IM? Very worried

Hey guys. So, every 2 weeks I take the Risperdal Consta injection. The problem is that the nurse isn’t always the same, bcuz I study at a college far away from my home, and I come to my hometown 2x per month to do the injectable.

Today I did it with a nurse who seemed very insecure, and while doing it, I got the feeling that the needle wasn’t even touching the arm muscle. Ive been feeling a bit dizzy during the day, but it could be a bit of paranoia.

What do u think? Has anybody ever received a wrongly done injection?

I have had blood taken many times and often have had nurses miss my vein so yes I imagine nurses sometimes mess up shots too. You should talk to your doctor about it if possible.

My worry is that f the injection has been wrongly applied, it might cause me some kind of damage or doesnt have its effect

Different methods of injection have different absorption effects but I don’t remember them. I think if they did it just in the vein not in the muscle you may get stronger side effects because it goes directly into the blood stream & it may wear out quicker. But that is my very rusty knowledge from a class I took over a year ago so just ask your doctor to be sure. If what I said is true probably you’d just need to get your next shot a bit sooner.

I used to get paranoid, though I braved the paranoia and had the injection, that they were going to kill me with an overlooked air bubble.
I mentioned this to the nurse on Tuesday. She pointed out that as it was going into muscle and not a vein it might hurt a little more with a bubble but it wouldn’t kill me.
I will try and stop worrying now.
