Ok so 24 hours ago i had a bunch of drinks at a pub around 7 spiced rum with like 4 cans of pop… i just checked my sugars 15 mins ago and they were at 14.5 could it be from drinking yesterday? Im on 2 differnt meds for diabtes. Those blood sugars scare the crap outta me
You need to cut back meng. Drinking all that booze and those sodas is dangerous.
Oh man. I’m just like…dude…![]()
I wouldnt panic. Thats a little over 260 where I come from. I get that type of reading a lot from too many carbs. Having it once isnt likely to kill you or cause too much damage. It’s just not a bs level that you want to have regularly.
Yeah, as others have said, its probably time to change your habits.
14.5 mmol is very high! My fasting blood sugar is between 7.0 and 8.0 mmol. It used to be 6.5 to 7.0, but I haven’t been exercising as much, or being strict enough with my diet. Do you drink like that a lot? What’s your A1C like? Mine is 6.8.
I’m on Jardiance and Ozempic for my diabetes (type 2). It helps me to keep a list of “consequences” of my blood sugar going to high (blindness, amputation) and stick it on my fridge, or in a bookmark that I keep in my planner. It helps to remind me that even though the illness is slow to cause damage, bad things will occur if I don’t try my hardest.
Well he checked it 24 hours after checking it. I’m sure it was significantly higher earlier. It takes about 3 days for blood sugar to fully return to normal for a diabetic if not taking added insulin from something like that.
No i dont drink much gonna quit… wuts a1c im new to this diabtes stuff. My sugars are usually at 8.2
The A1C is a blood test.
On the Mayo site it says:
The A1C test is a common blood test used to diagnose type 1 and type 2 diabetes . If you’re living with diabetes, the test is also used to monitor how well you’re managing blood sugar levels. The A1C test is also called the glycated hemoglobin, glycosylated hemoglobin, hemoglobin A1C or HbA1c test.
Bing says:
An A1C is a blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months.
