For those taking insulin or getting frequent injections

Several weeks ago I started noticing i was getting lumps at injection sites that took quite awhile to disappear. I have not had any in a week or 10 days or so.

I take two insulin injections a day and one invega on wednesday. So, I am poking myself quite frequently. I was told when I first started taking insulin to inject in lower abdomen at least two inches from belly button.

Looking online, it appears that these lumps are common in diabetics. And they seem to be from injecting into same spots repeatedly.

I inject so often though, it seems difficult to alternate sufficiently in the limited area of suggested injection. I mean, thats like 60 injections a month.

Anywho, I will probably need to ask doc about if I can alternate to other injection sites or something, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this.

Yes you have to rotate sites frequently. The bumps are normal. It would be helpful if someone can inject in your upper arms as well. You could do it, it’s just harder.

I am taking insulin in my left arm. Once in 24 hour. It is extended type of insulin that release the required insulin to blood when required by the body in 24 hour. I feel comfortable with it. I often change the injection point in my arm.
