I'm going to therapy today

I’m leaving in a little bit. I’m planning on talking about the excoriation disorder. It’s pretty bad right now. I have over 30 wounds. I doubt she can do anything to help but it’s worth a try, it can’t hurt. I’ll also talk about my daughter, as always. And I’ll update her on the housing situation and such. I’m sure she’ll just cut it short like she normally does. Maybe I’ll ask her why her sessions are so short today and see if there’s a legitimate reason like having to do notes or something. But still other therapists have to do notes and they see you for at least 50 minutes, she cuts me off at like 40 minutes. That seems almost rude.

Do you have to pay for therapy where you are?

No my insurance covers it

That’s good. Do they pay for it continuously, or do they say you can only have x amount of sessions?

I am interested how it works as where I am in England, you get 20 sessions max and that’s it. You also have to wait for 12-18 months after a referral. (It’s free on the NHS)

Not sure if I can afford private therapy as not really sure how much it would cost

It’s free continuously for as many sessions as you would like. So I could see her once a week if I wanted to. But right now we are only meeting once every two months. It’s because I am extremely low income and I am accessing public health that it is the way it is. If I wanted to go to private therapist I would have to pay.

Well I hope you make the most out of the sessions. I find sometimes they can be really productive, other times not so much. Just got to stick with it.

Might not be what you want, but having them spread out like that will mean you should have plenty to talk about, so hopefully they will be pretty constructive meetings.

Anyways, so if I went a bit off topic. Hope it goes well for you today.

Thank you. And yes, that’s a good point, there’s always plenty to talk about so that’s a bonus.

Once every 2 months? That doesn’t seem like enough. Do you really get help from these sessions? It seems hard to get really working on something if you only see her every 8 weeks

I think therapists will sometimes cut a session short if they don’t think you’re not making progress in therapy, or if you’re bringing back old pathologies or going off in a direction they think is counter productive.

In order to receive psychiatric services I have to see a therapist once every 3 months to keep my case open, she probably thinks she’s doing me a favor by seeing me more often. No. I had told her I’m not ready to work on anything right now with my situation the way it is I’m sort of in survival mode and the type of therapy I would be interested in with her would be to go ahead and work on some past stuff and really get in there and dig around and process and that’s more of something you do when you’re established and have the time and energy to put into it. So for now we’re just touching base and keeping the psychiatric part of it open.

Oh ok. That makes sense.

You are lucky that you get to see your therapist for 40 minutes, my sessions with my therapist last for only 30 minutes.

Today we went for 50 minutes. She must have had something to deal with the other times or something. idk.
