I’m going on a business trip and Its quite a big deal for me & i am worried i am going to struggle with it. I’d be travelling to a different country and on my own & meeting with people i don’t know in places i have never been.
I’ve booked the flight and I’m just trying to sort out the logistics atm, I’m hoping it can all be put in place in good time so that it all goes smoothly, that being said i do worry about ‘what ifs’ but i think that’s natural.
One idea that might give you and your family peace of mind would be a medical ID bracelet. If you were in an emergency and couldn’t speak doctors would at least know what meds you are on. Maybe you could have the phone number of a trusted family member they could contact.
(No I am not affiliated with this company. It is just a suggestion.)
That is a good suggestion, I will ask my pharmacist about that, thank you.
I have a good insurance policy which covers me for my cfs & personality disorder so I’ll be taking a print out of that policy with me just in-case as well.
It sounds like you are well prepared for this. I hope you have a good trip and hopefully you will get a little sightseeing in during this buisness trip.
Thanks Vinegar, it was initially a training day but i extended it then the opportunity came up for a study visit & networking, i want to make it into a holiday as well and enjoy it, i heard the country i am going to has some great old towns and scenery, food & drink as well.
I am just working out the logistics, i need to get a form filled in and sent away as quickly as possible, so i need to talk to the right people and fill the form(s) in so i can hopefully get more funding, I said I’d pay the cost of anything that is not covered by the funding so i need to find out the prices at the hotel.
Check the list of medications you are taking and the rules for customs eg do they need to be in Orginal containers are you taking any controlled drugs etc
Thanks, thats very helpful as well, i will ask the pharmacist this also, maybe i will need my prescription slip or something incase i lose my meds or something, & idk the protocol for entering an eu country with my prescription medication, maybe i need to declare it or something.
I think in the UK as long it is in original containers with your name on it is sufficient. A pharmacist letter can also be beneficial.
If it controlled drugs then they need to be declared
Idk what controlled drugs are is that like paracetamol etc?
My pal @Jimbob said i might chech my mobile phone service so i can get a deal while away, & also to notify the bank so they dont decline my card over there.
You need to check with your prescriber. In addition I have read on the UK government website you are only allowed 3 months supply. I would check the government website in your destination country.
Thanks fit & ready, I’ll only be visiting this country for 1 week so it should be ok, i’ll take a good supply of meds and i think I’ll keep some on me and some in my room (just in case)
Thanks Coco, its great because i will be representing a European Mental Health Organisation & the funding will hopefully be for 4 days, I just hope there are no problems with the planning bc it is kinda last minute now, i need to set up a meeting with two mental health charities and my chairwoman to decide the programme, (what i’ll be doing when there etc) and why.
I’m writing a list of things that need to be done, its starting to get to me,
i’m trying to keep it together but i need to do a lot of networking for this to work and if i pull it off it could be the greatest accomplishment of my life
I hope you have a great time and that you’ll get to sightsee a little wherever you are going. Maybe try some of the lands dishes and culture! Have fun!!!
A little update about things, i sent an email asking if i could have another person come with me on the business trip, (i looked up prices and 2 people sharing a room was a similar price to just 1 person) i said i’d pay the difference and asked if it was possible (it was just a general enquiry)
Well, i had a call from the two most senior members and it was a mixed reception, looks like i have over stepped the mark some how and it has upset me with someone saying hey were horrified (the word horrified has stuck in my head now)
This is the last thing i want, i try my best for the board and i want them to get stronger but i don’t like they way i was treated by one person, i am going to just take it on the chin but its not fair as a volunteer who has done nothing wrong. sorry for the rant.
A good thing about the trip is that my sister is going to help me organise it by looking up prices of trains and meals at the hotel etc, she’s going to help me with my list & filling in the form i need to send off, man i am praying so hard this all works out.
