I'm full of sh!t... Literally

I have a blockage in my bowels and had it for over a month and I saw the doctor again yesterday and he put me on really heavy laxatives and it’s been rough

Yes I went to the doctor before I was hospitalized and they had put me on laxatives but they didn’t work… Now I’m on stronger ones and it’s rough… My back hurts a lot

That’s rough. I used to have to take magnesium citrate once a week in order to get any movement…now I use daily senna and a stool softener in order to keep things moving, I’m hoping the constipation improves with the med switch I’m doing. I hope that the laxative the doctor gave you helps relieve your constipation. It sucks to be full of shite… people don’t understand just how much it hurts!

I think I took that yesterday, today I was to drink water today, and tomorrow I drink more of that, then it’s more water, then it’s regular magnesium, then water, and repeat until it’s gone

Everything was over the counter so we had to pay for all of it out of pocket…

You’re right it hurts a lot

I have a very similar problem. I keep wondering what food I have that can help with this problem.

i had an xray before where most of my colon was full. i use miralax. i used it daily for like 2 or three months. it cleared everything and i started having regular direhha so now i just take it when i got more then 2 or 3 days without going to the bathroom and now it works very quickly. in the beginning it took a while to work. i think cause it was so backed up.

I use Miralax as needed. Even though it has “lax” in the name, it’s actually a stool softener.

I once tried senna and all it did was make me puke all night. Never again!

Magnesium citrate does nothing for me. I won’t even pass any stool at all after drinking a whole bottle

When I go three days without having a bowel movement I just use a enema. One bottle does the trick in about five minutes or less.

We tried this it did nothing

I think enema is if we can’t get it out… IDK

My chronic constipation has been well-managed for many years. Daily (light) exercise + plenty of water + probiotics (yogurt with a certain strand of bacteria).

I’m astounded by people’s reluctance towards yogurt. It does wonders for me.

Senna gives me painful stomach cramps.

I haven’t had a proper s h it in months.

I get little rabbit poo come out like one or two.

I’m on a supplement but it’s expensive and doesn’t work as well as I like.

My dr in sa had me on movicol but it didn’t work so she had me on five sachets a day.thats a lot!

I didn’t know you could get surgery for constapation.

I might try movicol again because it’s said to be gentle but it doesn’t taste nice.

I should see a specialist if movicol doesn’t help.

Any suggestions other than senna?

Something gentle and nice but effective.

You can drink magnesium citrate but it can make you incontinent if you use it too much

I find the best way to avoid constipation is to take a brisk walk each day, it naturally activates bodily processes that eventually leads to getting to the toilet.

Staying well hydrated also seems to help. Drinking a good amount of water. A hot cup of tea often activates me.

Large amounts of vitamin C can help. The herb Cat’s claw can soften stools.

I went to the hospital today and they said I was fine and that it’s going to be painful to get unstuck and I’m fine

Did the hospital give you any more things to try to get things moving? Did they let you know what signs to look out for that would warrant a return trip to the doctor/hospital?

Hopefully everything comes out alright (pun intended) :grimacing:
