So it was my wife’s birthday recently and I was picking her up a few little gifts. I didn’t have much money, so one of the presents I bought her was a ring for $14.99 at a local thrift store.
She went to the Jewelers to have it sized properly for her second finger…and drum roll…they appraised the ring at around $600.00!
I think they said it’s an Amethyst stone with two smaller silver stones on each side.
Good to see you. Happy late birthday to Mrs. Patrick.
It really is a stunning-looking ring…and I somehow knew i was getting away with a steal of a deal. Turned out i was right!
When we pick up the re-sized ring from the Jewelry store, I’ll get my daughter to take a picture of it, and I’ll post it on this thread so you can all see it.
I follow crazy lamp lady on YouTube. She’s always finding something great!
Wow…that is a pretty serious score. Well done to you and your shopping skills and taste. Pays to recognize something that looks decent.
Should have haggled. Could have got it down to $12.99
Amazing! Such a steal! Amazing just amazing!
That beats my find a few years ago. I paid like $8.00 for a barely warn gap leather jacket. I would find them online for like $400.00.
Yeah, I once ordered the last hamburger of the night for $4.99 at McDonalds and when I took it to be appraised the expert told me it was worth $7.98 even with one bite out of it. I really scored that night.
This made me smile @anon39054230.
I used to find all sorts of stuff at the Goodwill down the street from me too. Fun.
Update on that ring I bought at the Thrift store for $14.99. The Jeweler made a mistake and said the ring couldn’t be sized because it wasn’t stirling silver…and the ring is probably worth around a hundred bucks.
Oh well, here’s a picture of it anyways. I still made a nice profit after all…and my wife still loves the ring which is the most important thing.
Hmmm…I find this strange.
My wife went to three different Jewelers to get an estimate to re-size the ring. One quoted $165.00…the other $60.00…and this place we went with quoted $40.00.
But all three said they could re-size the ring. Hon is determined to get the ring sized properly, but I told her to just forget it. But doesn’t this all seem just a little weird to you as well?
