No sex education made me ignorant of myself. This should help my confidence.
Yeah, I remember it was really minimal in school. It was like the mans spermie travels to the egg and that was about it. And my parents didnât even have the bees and flowers talk with me.
I hope there is more openness about educating kids these days.
Im totally female.
When I use the term âfemaleâ, I feel like an animal. I think itâs because we used to keep a log of our hamsters.
They were quite descriptive in school, they taught us about the birds and the bees in grade 8, and then again in high school. My mom also sat down and explained everything to me when I was young.
I never had the birds and the bees talk with my parents but they covered it in âhealth classâ pretty thoroughly in high school.
Edit: Or was that junior high? I think that it was junior high that we had âhealth classâ
There was no sex ed when I was in school. It was an issue when I was in my 20âs. A lot of people objected saying they only wanted their children to hear about it from their parents. But too many of us had parents who neglected the whole subject, so the idea of in school sex ed passed.
I never had a birds and the bees talk. Then in highschool, my health class taught that âabstinence is the only birth controlââŚ
Oh jeez.
Iâm so glad I grew up when I did. We got comprehensive sex Ed, several years of it, and education about birth control. It was at the beginning of the AIDS crisis, and we were - thankfully - bombarded with messages about always using condoms.
Edit: I donât recall my parents ever talking about it to me, though. Theyâre kinda repressed in that area.
Was out of wedlock sex taken for granted?
I donât know what that means. Are you asking if they preached sex only if you were married? Thankfully, no.
We did have one teacher who still put the blame and shame of getting pregnant only on the girls, though.
I mean did the teachers assume youâd have sex before you got married.
Not for us, but no one acted as if sex was taboo thank goodness.
I donât know what they assumed. But they didnât preach against it.
Just like they say when throwing around the pig skin, âHut, Hut, Hikeâ donât doubt whatâs between yer legs ⌠or all games are off! (Sorry for the âPeanutsâ Comic Reference)
