Had first symptoms at 15 years old. Got delusional at 31 and dx at 33.

Am 42 now
First diagnosed age 18
Noticed being withdrawn and nervous from age 11
From age 11 to 16 was very depressed withdrawn never thought I had schizophrenia nor did my parents think I would
Had very bad self esteem as I thought I was just horrible
Am doing quite well now and continuing to improve
Been on clozaril for 10 years and seroxat helps

Hi Karl,

I am a 47 year old woman, I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia at the age of 18 years. And even after so many years, and several types of psychotic medcs, and several different psychiatrists, and other types of holistic types of treatments also, I am still suffering with Paranoid Schizophrenia, with which I was diagnosed with.

You can look up statistics. From my poor memory, women usually get it later than men.

But I was taken fairly early at 18 for first episode though I knew something was wrong long before but I didn’t trust anyone to tell them. But that’s the Psz you know.

I had my first paranoia symptoms at around 16/17. It would come and go. It finally all came crashing down when I was 28, full blown psychosis. I also had tactile hallucinations. It felt like someone was punching me through my mattress. I think my Sz is pretty severe.

My senior year of high school so 18.
Maybe we should all start a women only “Diagnosed at 18” club or write a book or something because I am seeing a trend here.

Was diagnosed at 45 during positive symptoms.
