If you have psychosis is there still a possibilty that you might not have schizophrenia

it is driving me crazy that i dont know exactly what i have i have had psychosis since december 2015 and i still don’t have a real diagnosis i just want to know exactly what i have i used to think it was drug induced but it would be gone as i have had no drugs in me since the psychosis started is there any one i can go to other than my psychiatrist that can tell me exactly what i have

Yeah there are a number of psychotic disorders that are not sz. For example I have depression with psychotic features. Many other illnesses can also have psychotic features like bipolar or ptsd.

Sometimes the lines between different diagnoses are blurred and it can be hard to say exactly what someone has when it comes to mental illness. There’s no 100% accurate diagnosing tool like with physical medicine.

The psychologist I see has the opinion that I don’t have schizophrenia, rather drug-induced psychosis from smoking cannabis during my teenage years. I think that if you were fine before you started using drugs, then you probably don’t have full-blown schizophrenia, more psychosis.

However I don’t really even know what schizophrenia is so I can’t say. I have yet to feel 100% back to normal.
