If you have central heating what temperature do you set your thermostat at?

Background: I stayed in various flats as a student. In one we got an astronomical bill for heating. Ever since I have been too wary to put the heating on.

I currently live in a small flat and realistically it shouldn’t cost much to heat. Up to now I set the thermostat to 16 degrees C. But am thinking of treating myself to 18 degrees C.

What do you folks think? Is this excessive?

Naw it’s not. I’ve put the heat on to 80 or 85 degrees F.

I put mine at 68 f, but I pay close to $200 a month for the luxury

I live in a cold climate

That’s 60.8 F. I consider that very conservative, would be too cold for me. I keep mine at 72F.

Do you keep it at that 24 hours a day?

yes i keep it 72F all day except bath time I turn it up to 75F so I don’t get chilled coming out of the hot bath.

I keep mine at about 72 F but it’s a highly efficient on demand hot water radiator central heat system with thermostats on each radiator. It’s not that expensive b cause it doesn’t really drop b low 55 f outside

I’m in a bad house so I can’t heat it (50f) or I would spend $1700 a month, therefore I’m using mostly a infrared gas heater to heat the people and not the air.

I keep the heat constant at around 72 to 74 degrees.

I think my stepdaughter set mine at 22 or 23 C. It’s set to come on at certain times of the day. I can’t remember when.

68°. Sometimes down to 65° - I like piling on sweaters and blankets. Keeping the house cool in summer is more important to me.

It’s not at all excessive. A lot of people I know keep their thermostats at 72F . We keep ours at 63-64F, which is about what you do? Any lower and there’s no point.

I keep mine at 20C, sometimes 22 if I’m cold.

I have a programmable thermostat for my heating oil. Its set at 60 during the weekdays, 65 in evenings and all weekend. I saved a lot of money since installing it. I’d probably keep it at 60 but the SO likes to be warm when he is home from work.

I wouldn’t have it less than 20C. I used to have it set on 18C, but I would often get cold and stuff.
